Jennifer Lawrence Confirms Katniss Everdeen Return for Hunger Games Sunrise on the Reaping Epilogue With Hutcherson and Harrelson
What happened
Jennifer Lawrence confirmed she will reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen alongside Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson in *The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping*.
The Context
* A legacy epilogue: The original trio reunited on set to film a concluding sequence set after the events of the core franchise, appearing alongside younger leads such as Joseph Zada. * Based on recent material: Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film adapts Suzanne Collins’s 2025 prequel novel, which chronicles the 50th Hunger Games 24 years before the initial trilogy. * Production wrapped: Principal filming is finished, locking in an international theatrical release date of November 20, 2026.
The Number
— The gap since Lawrence, Hutcherson, and Harrelson last shared the screen in 2015's *Mockingjay – Part 2*, illustrating how studios deploy decade-long nostalgia cycles to derisk theatrical investments.
Takeaway
Expect studio marketing campaigns through late 2026 to lean on heritage cast cameos to maximize opening-weekend audience turnout across key global markets.
