Ranbir Kapoor Responds to Ramayana Trolling as Mixed International Reviews Emerge Ahead of November 5 Release
What happened
Actor Ranbir Kapoor dismissed persistent social media criticism of Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic *Ramayana* by citing the classic Hindi lyric "Kuch Toh Log Kahenge" during a virtual address to 18,000 students.
The Context
- Critical divergence across borders: While trade reviewers praised the production's visual scale and Hans Zimmer-AR Rahman score following its Los Angeles premiere, major outlets split sharply, with ratings ranging from a B grade (IndieWire) down to a 4/10 (IGN).
- Producers signal operational calm: Director Nitesh Tiwari and Prime Focus producer Namit Malhotra joined Kapoor in framing the digital commentary as transient noise, choosing to focus on sustained distribution metrics ahead of the November 5 theatrical debut.
- Regional commercial momentum: Pre-sales across key international hubs, including UAE cinemas, indicate robust demand that outpaces early review polarization.
The Number
—the global advance booking threshold the film crossed prior to its worldwide release, demonstrating that commercial momentum remains insulated from negative online commentary.
