Miami Dolphins Beat New York Jets 28-25 for First 2026 Season Win on Road at MetLife Stadium
What happened
The Miami Dolphins held off a late New York Jets rally to win 28-25 at MetLife Stadium on October 25, 2026, securing their first victory of the regular season.
The Context
* Halting the slide: Miami entered Week 7 at 0-5 under first-year head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, narrowly averting the franchise's first 0-6 start since 2019. * Dual-threat execution: Quarterback Malik Willis completed 14 of 21 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns, added a rushing score, and converted a pivotal fourth-and-1 to ice the game. * Rivalry dynamics: The Jets rallied from a 21-7 halftime deficit behind Geno Smith’s three touchdown passes, but fell to 2-5 under head coach Aaron Glenn.
The Number
— the final margin that broke Miami's five-game losing streak, proving that establishing early double-digit margins provides necessary insulation against late-stage counteroffensives.
Takeaway
Expect Miami's coaching staff to lean heavily into Willis's dual-threat run schemes to build weekly stability, while New York faces mounting pressure to address early-game defensive deficits.
