Miami Dolphins Defeat New York Jets 28-25 for First 2026 Win Under Jeff Hafley
What happened
The Miami Dolphins secured their first win of the 2026 NFL season by edging past the New York Jets 28-25 at MetLife Stadium.
The Context
* Ending the slide: Miami entered Week 7 winless before establishing a 21-7 halftime lead to deliver head coach Jeff Hafley his first victory of the campaign. * Clutch execution: Quarterback Malik Willis completed 14 of 21 attempts for two passing touchdowns, added a rushing score, and converted a decisive late fourth-and-1 to blunt a Jets comeback. * Division standings: The result lifts Miami to 1-5 while dropping the Jets to 2-5, compounding New York's defensive challenges following lapses flagged by coach Aaron Glenn.
The Number
— passing yards logged by Malik Willis without a turnover, demonstrating that operational efficiency and error-free output can stabilize an organization facing a multi-week slump.
Takeaway
Miami now tests whether this tactical baseline can generate momentum, while New York faces structural pressure to resolve early-game defensive deficits.
