Real Madrid Beat Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou as Mbappé Scores Twice to Revive La Liga Title Race
What happened
Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou on October 25, 2026, behind two goals from Kylian Mbappé to snap the hosts' nine-match winning streak.
The Context
- Tactical discipline broke momentum: José Mourinho organized Madrid into a structured counter-attacking unit that withstood Barcelona's high press despite missing key starters like Thibaut Courtois and Vinícius Júnior.
- Decisive execution in transition: Mbappé struck first in the 41st minute and sealed the result in the 87th minute following combination play between Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga, answering Raphinha's 61st-minute equalizer.
- Title margins narrowed instantly: The away victory halted Barcelona's perfect domestic start and re-established Madrid's position in a tight three-way fight at the top of Spanish football.
The Number
— the number of points separating third-place Real Madrid (24 points) from league leaders Barcelona (27 points) after 10 matches, tightening the championship margin after early-season setbacks.
Takeaway
With Madrid closing within one win of top spot, tactical stability and squad depth will determine whether Mourinho's side can sustain this operational momentum across the remaining 28 league fixtures.
