Miami Dolphins Defeat New York Jets 28-25 for First 2026 Win as Hafley Secures Inaugural NFL Head Coaching Victory
What happened
The Miami Dolphins held off the New York Jets 28-25 at MetLife Stadium on October 25, 2026, delivering head coach Jeff Hafley his first NFL victory and snapping an 0-5 losing streak.
The Context
* Ending the slide: Miami entered Week 7 facing the mathematical risk of an 0-17 campaign, making this division road win critical for team stabilization. * Leadership buy-in: Owner Stephen Ross and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan presented Hafley with a ceremonial game ball during postgame locker room celebrations. * Division dynamics: The three-point road result against an AFC East rival recalibrates the bottom half of the division standings heading into November.
The Number
The Dolphins' updated win-loss record, eliminating the downside risk of a zero-win season while shifting internal focus toward mid-season operational momentum.
Takeaway
Miami will look to leverage this breakthrough win to stabilize execution metrics as the roster enters the second third of the regular season schedule.
