Our History
From an idea in Dubai to a platform serving readers across the MENA region and beyond.
The Idea
A47 News was conceived in Dubai by a group of journalists and technologists frustrated by fragmented, siloed news experiences. The founding team identified a gap: readers in the MENA region had no single, reliable platform that aggregated credible coverage from local, regional, and international outlets in one place.
Research & Build
The team spent over a year researching news consumption habits across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and broader MENA. A prototype aggregation engine was built, and a corpus of over 300 regional and international outlets was curated and verified. Early infrastructure for story velocity tracking was established.
Beta Launch
A47 News launched in closed beta with a focus on UAE and MENA coverage. The beta attracted early readers from across the region, and feedback drove rapid improvements to the interface, categorisation system, and story intelligence panel.
Public Launch
A47 News opened to the public with full multi-category coverage, the trending velocity meter, and a curated Daily Newsletter. Coverage expanded to include global topics with a regional lens. The platform reached 50,000 monthly active readers within the first quarter.
Platform Expansion
A47 News introduced the Topic Intelligence system, group subscription plans for newsrooms and enterprises, and a revamped search engine. Mobile app development began, and the team grew to include full-time editorial staff responsible for source quality and accuracy review.
Present Day
A47 News continues to grow as the leading multi-source news intelligence platform for the MENA region. We now track over 500 outlets in 40 languages, and our trending system covers stories from 90 countries in real time. The platform serves readers, researchers, and organisations who need clarity in an information-dense world.
