Oman announces development of four new industrial cities to boost economic diversification

Oman has officially announced the establishment of four new industrial cities as part of its 11th Five-Year Development Plan, which spans from 2026 to 2030. These cities will be located in A’Suwaiq, Al Mudhaibi, Thumrait, and Madha, with the primary goal of enhancing economic diversification and attracting investments. The initiative is designed to create job opportunities and support the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the nation.

The announcement was made on August 12, 2026, and the cities are expected to be operational by the end of the Five-Year Development Plan in 2030. This strategic move is anticipated to significantly bolster Oman's industrial landscape and economic growth.

The development of these industrial cities aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on diversifying the economy and reducing reliance on oil revenues.
