Atlanta Dream Force WNBA Finals Game 7 With 80-69 Win Over Golden State Valkyries
What happened
The Atlanta Dream defeated the Golden State Valkyries 80-69 in Game 6 of the WNBA Finals to tie the series 3-3 and force the first Game 7 in league history.
The Context
- Backs against the wall: Atlanta entered Game 6 facing elimination after scoring just 62 and 55 points across back-to-back defensive losses in Games 4 and 5.
- Immediate offensive surge: The Dream dismantled the deficit early, establishing a 32-15 lead in the first quarter and extending the margin to 46-26 by halftime.
- Top-tier production: Allisha Gray recorded 23 points and Rhyne Howard added 21 points to hold off a late Valkyries push led by Gabby Williams' 26 points.
The Number
— Atlanta's first-quarter shooting efficiency (11-of-15 from the field), demonstrating how sharp frontline execution can neutralize an opponent's structural advantage from the opening bell.
Takeaway
The series shifts to San Francisco for the decisive Game 7 on October 31, where the Golden State Valkyries ultimately secure the title 68-63.
