Apple Launches Opt-In Siri Recap and Live Rewind Audio Intelligence in watchOS 27.3 Developer Beta
What happened
Apple released the watchOS 27.3 developer beta, introducing opt-in Siri Recap and Live Rewind audio intelligence tools for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.
The Context
* Silicon-level privacy controls: Both features leverage the S11 chip's Secure Exclave alongside private cloud compute, ensuring raw audio stays isolated from third parties and Apple itself. * Granular workplace controls: You must explicitly opt in to use the tools, with controls managed through settings, scheduled Focus modes, and conversation summaries that auto-delete after seven days. * Targeted memory assistance: The software tackles ambient recall in meetings by letting you double-press the Digital Crown to capture missed conversational details directly to your iPhone's Siri app.
The Number
— the exact rolling window of ambient audio buffered and transcribed on demand by Live Rewind, giving you an instant safety net when catching critical meeting takeaways.
Takeaway
Developers are testing the integration now, with a public beta rollout expected in mid-December 2026 ahead of full workplace deployment.
