UAE Establishes Zayed the Founder Day as Annual National Observance From January 7 2027
What happened
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced the establishment of Zayed the Founder Day, a new national occasion to be observed annually across the country starting January 7, 2027.
The Context
* Calendar addition: Led by The Founder’s Office, the observance is designed not as a standalone holiday, but as an operational launchpad for year-round educational, cultural, and community programs nationwide. * Date symbolism: The date of January 7 (07/01) explicitly references the union of the 7 emirates alongside the country's founding year of 1971. * Institutional continuity: The initiative directly focuses on cementing the principles of late founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for generations and international professionals who arrived after his passing in 2004.
The Number
— The number of united emirates reflected in the chosen January 7 date, offering multinational organizations and local teams a clear annual focal point to align their corporate social responsibility and community outreach strategies.
Takeaway
You can anticipate public-private partnership opportunities, civic activations, and school calendar alignments to formalize around the January 7 date well ahead of its inaugural 2027 rollout.
